Emergency agencies and the community work in a timely manner to handle the overflow of a river due to the heavy rains in recent hours.

Thanks to an operation coordinated with the risk authorities of the department and soldiers of the Second Division of the National Army, through the Battalion of Engineers No.5 Coronel Francisco Jos茅 de Caldas, it was possible to handle the environmental emergency that took place in the sector Piedra del Sol and Santa Coloma, in the municipality of Floridablanca, in the department of Santander.

Once the emergency was known, the Fifth Brigade deployed a platoon of assistance and disaster prevention with all its capabilities, elements and heavy machinery required to face the situation as soon as possible.

Since very early, the soldiers, together with the other local and regional authorities, worked on the removal of debris, the recovery of vehicles that were razed by trees, and the cleaning of houses hit by water and mud.

The civil, military and police authorities, of the Unified Command Post, reported that there were no human victims, but about 44 houses, 135 vehicles and about 130 families were hit.

At the moment there is a report of normality. The plans for the prevention, mitigation and timely assistance of situations such as this one are permanent with coordination and inter-institutional work of all the authorities of the department, led by the Departmental Unit of risk Management.
