Joint operations led to the destruction of a laboratory, the finding of two illegal camp areas and the confiscation of supplies, generating economic damages exceeding 200 million pesos to the illegal groups.
Troops of the Rainforest Battalion N.° 54 Bajo Atrato of the Fifteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in conjunction with the National Navy and in coordination with the National Police, reported a tactical task of reconnaissance, finding and destruction of a coca base paste production laboratory, in the area of the municipality of Carmen del Darién, Chocó department.
This operation managed to directly hit the illicit and criminal activities of the Carlos Vásquez substructure of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo generating an estimated economic loss of 134 million pesos corresponding to the production process of this drug.
During the operation, 330 gallons of coca base paste in process, 102 gallons of DIESEL, 60 gallons of gasoline and 65 kilograms of cement were seized, in addition to the destruction of 26 plastic barrels, eight metal barrels, a rudimentary wooden structure and a scythe, used for this illicit activity.
In addition, soldiers of the Ground Operations Battalion N.° 26 reported the finding of two illegal camp areas, apparently belonging to the Baudó substructure of the GAO Clan del Golfo, where elements of military accessories consisting of two badges, a chameleon-type tactical vest, a grill and equipment straps were seized.
In the same way, the 12th Infantry Battalion First Line seized 1285 gallons of semi-solid supplies, with losses estimated at 62 million pesos, and 700 gallons of liquid supplies, that would cost approximately 8 million pesos, significantly weakening the finances of these criminal structures.
