Military engineers of Colombian National Army install a metal bridge to restore mobility in Santander.
The Military Forces, in coordination with the departmental authorities, are constantly deploying their risk management resources to provide support in the emergencies reported in different regions of the country due to heavy rains.
In the department of Santander, the Military Engineers of Colombian National Army carry out the installation of a semi-permanent modular metal bridge in the Bocas del Opón sector, municipality of La Paz. The main purpose of this work is to restore connectivity on the road that connects the municipalities of Landázuri, Vélez and La Paz.
To date, the project has made a progress of 10 percent. The structure will have a length of 64 meters and a load-bearing capacity of up to 52 tons. At this time, the Military Engineer troops are carrying out the site adaptation phase, which includes the unloading of the technical elements, the preparation of the launch pad and the leveling and re-laying of the terrain.
Through these engineering works, the Colombian Military Forces ratify their commitment to strengthening regional connectivity, contributing to access to basic services, boosting local trade and the safe transit of private and heavy-duty vehicles.
