Along with this individual, another individual was arrested and one more died the framework of the military operation.
In the event, the authorities found a pistol, ammunition of different calibers, and communication equipment.
Alias Firulais has a criminal record of more than 11 years terrorizing the communities of Bah铆a Solano, Nuqu铆 and Bajo Baud贸. In addition, he was in charge of controlling the drug trafficking routes on the Choc贸 Pacific coast.
Within the framework of operations within the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan - Tiempo 2 -, the Military Forces arrested alias Firulais, a feared ringleader of the Jairo de Jes煤s Durango Restrepo structure of the GAO Clan del Golfo that commits crimes in the department of Choc贸, thanks to inter-institutional coordination and integration led by the Joint Command No.5 Northwest.
The incident took place in the Playa Potes sector of the municipality of Bah铆a Solano, where troops of the Joint Task Force Titan, in coordination with the Police and due to an arduous work of collecting information by intelligence of the Colombian Navy and the Air Force, managed to find the place where this individual, along with two other individuals, were trying to hide of the military operation conducted by the authorities against that organized armed group.
This is how, upon arriving at the place, the criminals attack the troops and a combat takes place that, in addition to two arrests, resulted in the death in the framework of military operations of a person whose identity is about to be established.
After the review of the place and the individuals, it was identified that one of the detainees is alias Firulais who was injured during the combat, to which first aid was provided by nurses of Colombian National Army. According to the first information alias Firulais, is a feared ringleader of the GAO Clan del Golfo, accused of various crimes and offenses, he was a military and financial ringleader of the so-called Jairo de Jes煤s Durango Restrepo Bloc and was the right-hand man of alias El Cura, having a criminal history of more than 11 years terrorizing the people of the municipalities of Bah铆a Solano, Nuqu铆 and Bajo Baud贸. He would in the same way be in charge of the control and management of drug trafficking routes on the Pacific coast of Choc贸.
Firulais would be directly responsible for the attack on the Police of Puerto Meluk, Choc贸 department, last May 7, 2022, for the forced displacement of more than 300 people in the Pe帽a Azul people, confining the communities in Alto Baud贸 municipality.
It should be noted that, with this powerful operation, troops contribute to accelerating the weakening of the logistical and criminal networks of the Clan del Golfo. During the operation, 110 units of ammunition of different calibers, a pistol and communication equipment were found by troops; this material was put into custody of the authority.
In 2024, the Titan Joint Task Force in the Department of Choc贸, during joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations, has powerfully hit the GAO Clan del Golfo with the arrest of 25 of its members, the surrender to justice of 32 more and four deaths in the framework of military operations, for 63 losses of the said criminal structure.
In the area where the events took place, the Military Forces strengthened the military operation, with the aim of finding the rest of the members of the criminal structure and thus continue to weaken their criminal and logistical networks in order to provide security and well-being to the inhabitants of the department of Choc贸.
