In this operation, war material and military accessories belonging to that organized armed group were found by troops.
Within the framework of operations of the Ayacucho Plan, the Military Forces, together with the Police and the Attorney General's Office, dealt a powerful blow against the Domingo Laín Sáenz Front of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN in the department of Arauca.
The military operation took place in the village of Buenos Aires, a rural area of the municipality of Fortul, Arauca. There, the Army and the Air Force clashed with members of the illegal group. That is where the arrest of two of them took place, who were found carrying two 9-millimeter pistols, magazines, 30 cartridges, a shotgun, communications equipment and important documents for the analysis of military intelligence.
One of those arrested is alias Danner, the alleged main ringleader of the Rafael Villamizar group, who has more than 30 years of criminal experience in the ELN. This individual was in charge of drug trafficking routes, receiving money from extortion, targeted killings and operations against the Military Forces and civilians; in the same way, alias Méndez o Piscingo, alleged second ringleader of the Rafael Villamizar group, was also arrested.
During the operation, one of those arrested was injured and was promptly assisted by combat nurses, providing protection to his life, respecting Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law.
Military operations are continuing in the area of the events with the aim of finding the other members of that criminal structure.
