Units of the National Army, the Colombian Navy and the National Police, found and captured in Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca, alias Cheo, ringleader and main head of extortion activities of the Organized Crime Group (GDO) Banda La Local.
The event took place in the neighborhood Pueblo Nuevo of the Commune No.3, where the military units -guided by Naval Intelligence information- captured Diren Alfonso Piedrahita Alegría, alias Cheo, who tried to flee when he noticed the troops, but the rapid reaction of the military units prevented his escape.
This individual was in charge of extortion, forced displacement, theft, personal injuries and homicide in the Commune No.3. He also was the right hand of alias Mapaya.
During the verification process, it was found that alias Cheo was wanted by the Attorney General's Office for the crimes of aggravated homicide, manufacture, trafficking, carrying or possession of firearms, conspiracy to commit crimes and forced displacement.
With this new blow dealt by the authorities to the Organized Gang Banda La Local, it was possible to weaken its operation in this area of the Colombian Pacific.
