In a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force and the National Police against an Organized Crime Group (GDO), it was possible to find and destroy three floating dredgers. Two excavators, which were used for the illegal exploitation of mining sites in the village of San Miguel, in the municipality of Sonsón, Antioquia, were seized.
This heavy blow was possible after men on ground located the place and recognized its important points thanks to air support, which led to intervene it.
In the operation, two excavators and three floating dredgers, which are valued at USD$184,000, were seized. This blow hit the finances of this crime group and reduced environmental damage in the La Miel River, the main water source in this area.
