Alias Pablo Mosquito, one of the main generators of violence in the region, was arrested in flagrante delicto, along with two other individuals.
Through this result, a criminal network that planned to hit the security and tranquility of the Montes de María subregion was dismantled.
The criminal activities of these individuals would be generating income of about 500 million pesos per week for the GAO Clan del Golfo, in this area of the Colombian Caribbean.
The Colombian Navy, within the framework of a coordinated operation with the Police, arrested alias Pablo Mosquito, accused ringleader of the Nicolás Antonio Urango Reyes substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo in the Caribbean region, during a search procedure for arrest purposes, carried out in the village of Puerto Mesitas, municipality of El Carmen de Bolívar, department of Bolívar.
This operation by the Military Forces in the same way led to the arrest of alias Bello, who would be the alleged ringleader of zone, in the municipalities of Córdoba Tetón, Magangué and Zambrano, in Bolívar, he also was searched by a valid arrest warrant. In the same way, alias David, allegedly responsible for carrying out targeted killings for this criminal organization, was also arrested.
During the procedure, a submachinegun, a shotgun, two pistols, ammunition, five cell phones, and propaganda material alluding to that gang were found by troops. For their part, the individuals were put into custody of the authority for their respective prosecution.
The arrest of alias Pablo Mosquito, who has been in the service of this gang for more than five years, represents a powerful operation against the Clan del Golfo, by weakening its capacity for criminal command and coercion in the communities of the region.
These individuals are accused of extorting merchants, farmers and owners of river transport companies that transit the Magdalena River; as well as of controlling the routes for the transport of illegal goods, such as narcotics or contraband, in the region, and of coordinating selective homicides against members of the Military Forces.
It is estimated that these criminal activities would be generating illicit income to the GAO Clan del Golfo, for an approximate cost of 500 million pesos per week, in this area of the Colombian Caribbean.
