Technological equipment and other logistical elements were found by troops at the site that, presumably, would be used for illicit activities.
According to the authorities, these elements would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAOR), Structure 6 Jaime Martínez.
In the framework of territorial control operations in the Department of Cauca, the Colombian Navy, in a joint action with Colombian National Army and the Colombian Aerospace Force, or the finding of an illegal hideout with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), war items and logistical elements used by criminal organizations.
The operation was carried out in a rural area of the municipality of López de Micay, Zaragoza sector, where troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.42 found six grenade-type improvised explosive devices, apparently 81 millimeters, in addition to 11 unconventional improvised grenades conditioned to be launched from drones. Detonating cord and explosive elements intended for the manufacture of charges were in the same way seized at the site.
During the operation, small firearms of different calibers, ammunition, elements of military accessories were in the same way found, which posed a high risk to the life and integrity of both the inhabitants and the members of the Military Forces.
According to preliminary information, the elements would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group - GAOR - Structure 6 Jaime Martínez, an organization that commits crimes in this area of the Colombian Pacific. In the same way, technological equipment and other logistical elements were found by troops that would presumably be used to strengthen their criminal resources.
The items were put into custody of the authorities, while the explosive devices were destroyed in controlled conditions by specialized personnel.
Through this result of the military operation, the Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to the security and stability of Cauca, through sustained operations aimed at neutralizing the resources of illegal armed groups and protecting communities.
