This result was achieved thanks to the integration of military intelligence resources and the support of aircraft of the Colombian Aerospace Force.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus military operation Plan, and thanks to intelligence information provided by Military Intelligence Battalion No. 1, with air reconnaissance support from Air Combat Command No. 3, troops of Infantry Battalion No. 5 General José María Córdova, of the Second Brigade engaged a combat against an armed group of the David Meza Peña Substructure, of the organized armed group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, in the village La Bodega, municipality of Pivijay, department of Magdalena.
During the military operation, the death of an alleged ringleader of the area, known by the alias of Guajiro, was reported in the framework of military operations. In the same way, it was possible to arrest another person who was put into custody of the authorities for his judicial process, so his legal situation will be defined by a judge of the Republic, in strict compliance with due process and the presumption of innocence.
At the scene of the events, 2 rifles, 358 5.56 mm caliber cartridges, magazines, 2 bracelets alluding to the Gaitanist Army of Colombia and elements of communications and military accessories were seized.
This result of the military operation directly hits the criminal resources of the David Mesa Peña Substructure, of the GAO Clan del Golfo, an organization that commits crimes in this area of the department of Magdalena and that aims to generate damages to the security and tranquility of the inhabitants.
