Military forces defused minefield near indigenous school in Tumaco, Nariño

cogfm-neutralizado-campo-con-explosivos-cerca-de-escuela-en-tumaco-16.jpg

These people were worried about the good condition of their children, who receive classes at this school every day.

Through the continuous development of military operations framed in the Ayacucho Joint Strategic Campaign Plan carried out by units of the Hercules Joint Task Force, there was the finding and subsequent destruction of a prepared area made of 30 explosive devices that were just 100 meters from an indigenous school in a rural area of the municipality of Tumaco, Nariño.

The military operation was carried out in the village of La Feliciana, where the troops found the death traps that represented a latent risk to the good condition of the indigenous children who receive classes at this school with more than 20 years in the area.

It is important to highlight that these explosive devices were placed with the purpose of guarding different laboratories for the production of coca base paste and cocaine hydrochloride, whose production was transported by the Mira River to other municipalities of the department of Nariño and served as a source of illegal financing for this criminal structure.

In the same way, it was learned by military intelligence information that this minefield had been planted by the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Second Marquetalia Structure Oliver Sinisterra, of the FARC dissidents, responsible for these unconventional methods of warfare that attack Human Rights and flagrantly transgress the provisions of International Humanitarian Law.

Thanks to the timely reaction, the anti-explosive technicians of the Military Forces return tranquility to the inhabitants of these indigenous people significantly decreasing the possible blows in their good condition.

The Joint Task Force Hercules in its mission seeks to provide security and protect civilians from any event that disrupts the tranquility on the Pacific coast of Nariño. These operations of the organized armed groups demonstrate that their objective is to go against the communities, generating fear and anxiety.

In the area of the events, the deployment of troops continues with the aim of finding other possible explosives or members of that criminal structure who commit crimes in the Nariño Pacific region.
