Military Forces destroy machinery used for illegal mining

Fuerza Pública destruye maquinaria empleada para minería ilegal

The Colombian Navy, within the framework of a joint operation with Colombian National Army and coordinated with the National Police, destroyed 15 machines and different elements used for the illicit exploitation of mining deposits in the San Isidro sector, municipality of Río Quito in the department of Chocó.

The result was made possible thanks to the steadfastness of the military operation of the troops of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No.16 of the Navy and the Infantry Battalion Primero de Linea No.12 of Colombian National Army belonging to the Joint Task Force Titan that together with members of the Military Forces of the National Police are carrying out control and surveillance work in the river arteries of the department of Chocó. Troops found and destroyed in controlled conditions seven mining production units, seven dredgers, seven motor pumps, seven power generating engines, one excavator and 14 industrial engines, commonly used for the illicit extraction of mining deposits.

With the destruction of this machinery valued at about nine billion pesos, the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo was prevented from receiving monthly income of more than 10 billion pesos, which hits the financial subsystem of this criminal organization.

The constructions were destroyed at the scene, while the material found was put into custody of the authorities.
