In the course of joint operations carried out by Colombian Navy and National Army troops, they found 472 Sapan, Cagui, Carreto and Lechudo wood slats in the municipality of Nechí, Antioquia.

Troops of the River Navy Battalion No.17 of the Colombian Navy, attached to the Joint Task Force Aquiles in support of the Special Road Energy Battalion No.5, they immobilized a ship that was moving over the Cauca river near the municipality of Nechí, transporting 472 wooden slats equivalent to 42 cubic meters, which had been cut down indiscriminately and were transported without the respective safe-conducts and environmental licenses for their use and transport.

Immediately, the timber was put into custody of the Corporación Autónoma Regional de Antioquia and the ship was handed over to the authorities.

It should be noted that article 328 of Act No. 599 of 2000 states as crime the illicit use of natural resources.
