This becomes the largest finding of cocaine hydrochloride made by the Military Forces in the Archipelago department in the year 2023.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Colombian Navy, the Colombian Aerospace Force and intelligence agencies of allied countries.

Units of the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force found 2,994 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were being transported in a Go Fast type ship destined for Central America, which was transiting through Colombian territorial sea, in the waters of the Archipelago department of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina.

This finding was possible thanks to a complete operational synergy conducted by Maritime Police Officers of the Naval Aviation of the Colombian Navy, Horus-type aircraft of the Colombian Aerospace Force, the ARC Caldas Missile Frigate and Rapid Reaction Units of the Coast Guard Station of San Andrés; who with valuable information identify and effectively track this suspicious boat, which was sailing in the Caribbean Sea.

The Coast Guard managed to intercept the boat 313 kilometers from the coast of San Andrés. This after a chase of several hours that ended thanks to the pressure and procedures used by the maritime and Naval Aviation who told the suspects to surrender and stop the machines of the ship in which they were traveling.

The ship, which was crewed by four Colombian nationals, was immobilized and taken to the dock of the Coast Guard Station of San Andrés, in its review the crew members of the Naval Institution found 2,994 rectangular packages inside 120 sacks, to which in coordination with units of the Technical Investigation Corps –CTI- of the Attorney General's Office, the Approved Preliminary Identification Test (PIPH) was conducted, with a positive result for 2,994 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.

The four arrested, the communication equipment, the immobilized boat and the drug that would cost US $ 100,897,800 in the international illegal market, were put into custody of officials of the Attorney General's Office, who latter subsequently destroyed it according to current regulations.
