16 illegal hiding places with war material, military accessories and communications have been found by the Specific Command of the East in the departments of Meta et Guaviare, so far this year.
Within the framework of stability tasks of the Ayacucho -Tiempo 2 Joint Strategic Campaign Plan- troops of the Omega Joint Task Force found an illegal hideout containing about 250 kilograms of high explosives, which would belong to the Jorge Suárez Briceño bloc of the so-called Central Staff of the FARC dissidents.
This material was found in the village La Pizarra, rural area of San José del Guaviare, Guaviare, approximately 130 meters from a main road and two kilometers of the City of Piedra del Guaviare, an emblematic and tourist site of this region.
After carrying out the inspection with the trained dog and after cordoning off the area and implementing all the security protocols, anti-explosive technicians proceeded to destroy in a controlled way this high explosive material consisting of a mixture of ammonium nitrate and petroleum-derived fuel.
With this operation it was possible to prevent the production and manufacture of about 3,000 anti-personnel mines; in the same way, damage to the inhabitants and the troops carrying out stability tasks in this area of the department is prevented.
