Military forces found more than 2,100 anti-personnel mines in the department of Meta

cogfm_ftcomega_neutralizado_deposito-ilegal-explosivos-meta-gao-residual-13.jpg

With the destruction of this material, which would belonged to the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO, Jorge Brice帽o Su谩rez structure of the FARC dissidents, the loss of life and the good physical condition of the communities of Meta, Caquet谩 and Putumayo are prevented.

After territorial control operations and institutional work, the Military Forces found an illegal hiding place with more than two thousand explosive devices, with which, apparently, criminal operations would be carried out against the Military Forces and civilians.

The finding was made by troops of the Joint Task Force Omega, who reached the village Los Andes, a rural area of Puerto Concordia south of Meta. There, with the support of anti-explosive dogs, the site was found where the members of the Military Forces found 2,116 anti-personnel mines containing more than a ton of explosives and 604 kilograms of shrapnel, which would have a method of activation by pressure, so they proceeded to their destruction in controlled conditions at the scene.

The destroyed material would belong to the Jorge Brice帽o Su谩rez residual GAO, which commits crimes in the region, and it is presumed that it was destined for the departments of Caquet谩 and Putumayo, where they would be used by members of that group, against the life and good physical condition of civilians and the Military Forces.

The work of the troops continues in the area with the aim of finding the structure to which these dangerous traps would belong to.

The Colombian Military Forces will continue to carry out operations against organized armed groups, reducing their capacity to attack and produces losses to the community, while inviting them to report to the authorities those criminal acts that may go against the development and security of the Colombian southeast.
