Military forces found narcotics that would cost 32 million dollars in Providencia

With this important result, the Military Forces have reported finding of 4.3 tons of cocaine in the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina this year.

 

60 nautical miles from the Island of Providencia in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, 982 kilograms of drugs were found by Units of the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Air Force in the waters of the Colombian Caribbean, in a Go Fast boat manned four individuals.

 

The suspicious activity was followed and monitored for a period of 12 hours, in which the operational synergy was conducted by rapid reaction units of the Providencia Coast Guard Station, the ARC Antioquia Missile Frigate and a Horus type aircraft of the Colombian Air Force of to the Caribbean Air Group.

 

Despite the adverse weather conditions, the Go Fast type boat was found by the naval and air means conducted in the area of the operation which guided a Coast Guard Unit that made the interception of the boat manned by three people from Providencia and one from San Andrés, which were transporting 42 bags with the suspicious material.

 

The boat and its crew members were transported by the members of the Institution of Naval up to the pier Guard of San Andrés, where, after being inspected and were found 1,170 rectangular packages which were inside the bags. Officials of the Technical Body of Research -CTI - of the office of the Prosecutor General's office conducted a Test of Preliminary Identification, leaving positive result for 934,5 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride and 48 kilos of marijuana kind creepy.

 

The drug that would be destined for Central America would cost about 32 million dollars in the international illegal market.

 

The drug, along with the four arrested, the communications equipment, a 38mm caliber revolver and the immobilized boat, were put into custody of officials of the Attorney General's Office.

 

With this result, the Military Forces, through the components of the Specific Command of San Andrés and Providencia, ratify their commitment to counter the problem of drug trafficking and transnational crime in the Archipelago department and continue to carry out, in a sustained manner, jointly and combined and coordinated operations conducted by the Military Forces, allied countries and State institutions.
