Improvised explosive devices, anti-personnel mines and grenades, belonging to the Jorge Briceño Suárez structure, were found by troops and destroyed in the municipalities of La Macarena and Vista Hermosa.
Within the framework of stability tasks framed in the Joint Strategic Campaign Plan Ayacucho -Tiempo 2-troops of the Omega Joint Task Force, who were carrying out revision and patrolling works together with the trained dog, found a rural road conditioned with improvised explosive devices in the village Villa Rodas, of the municipality of La Macarena, Meta.
Five improvised explosive devices with characteristics similar to 40-kilo gas cylinders had been installed consecutively with an approximate separation of a distance of 30 to 40 meters, which would be activated by command cable; three anti-personnel mines, 35 kilograms of powerful explosives, five detonators and 32 meters of detonating cord were found by troops in the same place.
Similarly, in the village of La Cooperativa, in the municipality of Vista Hermosa, three abandoned explosive devices with characteristics similar to a 60-millimeter mortar grenade were found by troops and destroyed in controlled conditions by personnel of the anti-explosive and demolition groups, 60 meters from an abandoned house, which had been left in this place by the Jorge Briceño Suárez structure, of the so-called Central Staff of the FARC dissidents.
According to military intelligence, the installation of these devices would have been ordered by alias Alexis or Cancharino, the financial ringleader of the aforementioned structure, who made several threats at the departmental level against the inhabitants, Military Forces and Critical Nation-buildings.
With the finding and neutralization of this material it was possible to mitigate damage to the life and good physical condition of the inhabitants who transit through these areas, in the same way, damage to the troops who are carrying out stability work for the security of this region.
The Omega Joint Task Force strengthened the number of units in the south of the department of Meta, with more than 90 members of the Military Forces in order to strengthen security and protect the inhabitants who live in this area.
