The Military Forces are constantly on a joint deployment to support the assistance of the climate emergency that hits the different departments of Colombian territory as a result of the cold front that hits the center, north and west of the country.
Colombian National Army, the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force are carrying out joint actions aimed at evacuating people at risk, distributing humanitarian aid and reducing the effects of the rains in departments such as Córdoba, Santander department, Chocó department and Antioquia, where the main impacts are concentrated.
In coordination with the Civil Defense and the departmental authorities, the military forces have strengthened humanitarian support by evacuating people in vulnerable conditions and distributing more than 80 tons of humanitarian assistance, in addition to feeding and grooming kits, intended for families hit by the floods.
In addition, containment and preventive movement of inhabitants to care centers are carried out in the coastal areas, while their institutional presence is constant to support the response tasks and facilitate the action of relief agencies in the most vulnerable sectors.
The air component has been fundamental in the assistance of the emergency. The Colombian Aerospace Force has been working to lift the transfer of relief agencies, inter-agency personnel and more than 25 tons of emergency humanitarian aid, provided by the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD). These acts are coordinated of the Unified Command post, planted in Montería, where the civil authorities and the institutions responsible for risk management converge.
