Military forces reinforce operations to protect communities in Puerto Merizalde

militares-arc-16.jpg

Troops of the Colombian Military Forces went to Puerto Merizalde, a village in the Buenaventura - Valle del Cauca鈥檚 District, to reinforce security operations to protect the communities living in this area of the country, after the reported armed clashes conducted by members of Organized Armed Groups, for alleged disputes over control of mobility routes, production and stockpiling of illicit substances.

The units of the Colombian Navy will carry out search operations and military control of the area, in order to protect the humane security of its inhabitants and block these Organized Armed Groups that with their criminal operations generate fear among civilians and limit the normal development of their daily activities.

In the same way, the Naval Institution had air - Naval Units that carry out overflights in the area, with the purpose of identifying the movements of these Organized Armed Groups - GAOr.

In this region of the country, there is criminal interference by the Residual Armed Group Jaime Mart铆nez and the Organized Armed Group of the ELN, which dispute the control of illegal drug trafficking activities and routes, extortion, kidnapping, firearms trafficking and illegal and indiscriminate exploitation of flora and fauna on the Pacific coast of Cauca and Valle del Cauca.
