Military forces reinforce security and assistance to people on the occasion of rains season in the department of Córdoba

Fuerzas Militares refuerzan seguridad y atención invernal en Córdoba

"To you, the soldiers of land, sea, air and river, to the police officers and men of the Civil Defense: thank you for everything you are doing here for the department of Córdoba." Through this message of recognition, the Chief of defense of Colombia, General Hugo Alejandro López Barreto, began his strategic review visit to the region, highlighting that the current priority of the State is the protection of communities hit by the climate emergency.

During his tour, General López Barreto emphasized that the institution is dedicated to the service of the citizens in the midst of the current heavy rains.

"I want to tell you that we are fulfilling the mission of the Environmental Force. Every soldier of land, sea, air and river and the police officers are distributed in the national territory. We are fulfilling the mission that corresponds to us and we cannot doubt our resources; we may lack some things, but we will never lack courage and honor," the senior officer said.

The Commander highlighted that the operation to support the civil authority is today the most relevant task of the Seventh Division and the units, because its force is directed to the survival of the peasants and vulnerable villages.

Under the direction of the Minister of National Defense, Pedro Sánchez Suárez, the military high command held meetings with departmental and municipal authorities to coordinate humanitarian resources.

At the same time, the strengthening of the security operation was supervised within the framework of the Democracy 2026 Plan, directing efforts towards: Protection of life, mitigation of risks in territories hit by floods; electoral security, commitment to law and order and democratic legitimacy in prioritized areas; constructions and mobility, safeguarding of critical assets and freedom of movement.

General López Barreto concluded by highlighting the "harmonious work" conducted by the National, local and regional Government as a fundamental factor for the success of the operations. The Military Forces thus reaffirm their commitment to the stability of the territory, demonstrating that, even in emergency environments, the unified action of the soldiers of land, sea, air and river is the greatest security commitment for Colombia.
