The result of the military operation hits illegal activities and strengthens security in the east of the country.
Within the framework of joint and inter-institutional military operations, troops of the Fourth Division of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the Colombian Navy and the National Police, have found an important shipment of narcotic substance in a rural area of the municipality of Puerto Gaitán, department of Meta.
The action was carried out on the road that leads from Puerto Gaitán, Meta department, to the department of Vichada, where, thanks to intelligence information, units of the Field Artillery Battalion No. 7 and the Light Cavalry Group No. 6, found a white Ford F-150 pickup truck abandoned.
According to the first reports, the vehicle was left by its occupants in an attempt to evade the action of the authorities. Simultaneously, river units closed the Manacacías and Meta rivers, strengthening the encirclement of the military operation in the area.
During the inspection of the car, 567 pressed block-type packages of vegetable substance with marijuana characteristics were found by troops, which were put into custody of the authority along with the vehicle, to conduct the respective urgent acts.
This result represents a significant blow to the illicit activities of the criminal groups that commit crimes in the region, weakening their sources of financing and contributing to the security and tranquility of the inhabitants.
