In the framework of coordinated operations conducted by the Cauca Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) and the DIJIN of the National Police, alias Sombra, accused of being thee ringleader of the finance group of the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) Structure Dagoberto Ramos Ortiz, and alias Alexis, a member of the same structure, who allegedly was in charge of the personal security of this ringleader, were arrested.
According to the investigations, alias Sombra exercised illicit control over the road that connects the village of El Palo with the municipality of Toribío, department of Cauca, by installing illegal checkpoints with the purpose of obtaining economic resources from drug trafficking, an activity that constituted one of the main sources of financing for the criminal and terrorist acts of this structure.
In the same way, this individual is accused of carrying out criminal intelligence work for the execution of the motorcycle bomb attack against the police station of the municipality of Caloto, an action that left three civilians injured.
The authorities are in the same way linking him to the kidnapping of the intendant of the National Police Jeffrey Garzón, who was working in the SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE), as well as with the installation of an illegal checkpoint on the main road that connects the municipalities of Caloto and Corinto, in the department of Cauca.
This important result of the military operation represents a significant loss to the financial resources of the GAO-r Structure Dagoberto Ramos Ortiz, by weakening its sources of financing and its alliances with drug trafficking networks and criminal organizations of national and international scope that supported its illicit activities.
