The early detection of HIV cases is important for the health of the community and patients, their priority assistance can improve treatment and symptoms in people living with HIV, so, for the General Directorate of Military Health is vital to provide its users with access to diagnosis.

The institution conducted a training in HIV counseling training for 18 professionals of the Military Health Establishments: the Rehabilitation center, Basan, and the health Centers of the Navy and the Air Force, in order to provide necessary tools to start the pilot program in Bogotá and thus achieve the launch of its strategy ''Index Case and Risk Case”, which seeks to support the inhabitants living with HIV who do not know the diagnosis of infections.

Through rapid HIV tests to patients attending sexual and reproductive health consultations, priority consultations with previous diagnoses of confirmed STIs, respiratory symptoms greater than 15 days of evolution and chronic diarrhea greater than 30 days, it will be possible to detect and attend cases.

With early detection of HIV cases, the military forces contribute to global goals 90-90-90, reducing the transmissibility of the disease and improving the quality of life of people living with HIV.
