In humanitarian demining tasks carried out in five months, Soldiers of the battalion of Engineers of Humanitarian Demining no.5, have found six anti-personnel mines and one unexploded ordnance, decontaminated 75,475 square metres in the Departments of Huila and Putumayo.

The explosive devices in Huila territory were found in the Turquestán and Río Blanco villages of the municipality of Baraya; while, in the municipality of Tello, the work was carried out in the Brasilia and Río Negro villages.

Simultaneously, in the Department of Putumayo, antipersonnel mines were destroyed in the municipality of Maravelez in Valle del Guamuez.

With these destructions, about 500 inhabitants of the different sectors are favored because they will be able to continue cultivating the different agricultural products such as beans, corn, among others; at the same time, they continue with livestock activities, one of the main sources of income, which were not exercised for fear of falling into deadly traps.
