In the operation against the GAO Clan del Golfo, Colombian National Army neutralizes the threat posed by alleged member of this armed group and finds war material, military accessories and communications in Valdivia, department of Antioquia
The units are constantly conducting security operation to counter the criminal activities of this armed group and protect the inhabitants in the area.
Within the framework of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops of the Airborne Infantry Battalion N.掳 31 Rifles, attached to the Eleventh Brigade of Colombian National Army, fought against the organized armed group (GAO) Clan del Golfo, which resulted in the death in the framework of military operations of an alleged member of the Julio C茅sar Vargas Substructure and the finding of abundant war materials, military accessories and communications.
The action was reported in the village of San Jos茅 de G茅nova, in the municipality of Valdivia, department of Antioquia. Among the items found at the site there were 8 rifles, 29 magazines, and more than 2000 cartridges of different calibers.
Additionally, garments and accessories of exclusive use of the Military Forces were found by troops, such as 11 military jackets, 10 chameleon-type pants, 24 tactical sweaters, 12 units of campaign equipment, 8 vests, 9 units of camouflage fabric, 3 assault bags and 6 sweatshirts, among other items.
As for the communications material, the troops found 2 radios, batteries and antennas. Similarly, members of the Military Forces found 11 bracelets alluding to the Julio C茅sar Vargas Substructure.
As part of the operation, one of the soldiers was injured, and with the support of the Colombian Aerospace Force, he was immediately evacuated to the city of Medellin, where he is being assisted in a health care center.
This substructure has been hit hard in the last two months, suffering constant damage through the operations, such as findings of war material, military accessories and communications. Through these operations, the logistical component and their ability to carry out illicit activities that put the security of the communities in this area of northern Antioquia at risk is weakened.
