Military pressure forces drug traffickers to abandon illegal marijuana merchandise

Presión militar obliga a narcotraficantes a abandonar alijo de marihuana

In the village of La Balastra, municipality of Nátaga, west of Huila, the coordinated operation conducted by the Pigoanza Battalion of the Ninth Brigade and the Anti-Narcotics Police countered a new attempt by drug trafficking to use Huila roads as ways for the transport of narcotics. This operation led to the finding of 276 kilos of marijuana.

The powerful intervention of the Military Forces on the highway axis prevented drug traffickers from concretizing their plans. The criminals, surprised by the military and police activity, fled, leaving behind the vehicle with the narcotic that would cost 276 million pesos in the illicit market. This amount would have generated illicit profits of 1,000 million pesos by being distributed in 552,000 doses.

The coordinated operation of the Military Forces not only prevented the distribution of a large amount of narcotics, but in the same way cut off an important source of financing for criminal organizations specialized in drug trafficking that use these resources to finance other criminal activities.

In the same way, by preventing this illicit substance from reaching the streets, there has been a significant impact on public health, reducing the potential increase in drug consumption, especially among children and young people.
