In an act of solidarity, soldiers of Colombian National Army's Humanitarian Demining Engineer Brigade have introduced the Hands that Demine, Hands that Support initiative, a space intended for entrepreneurs who reside in areas historically hit by the contamination of explosive devices.
Thanks to the support of the Gran Plaza Soacha, Mercurio, Gran Estaci贸n, Santa B谩rbara shopping centers and the Usaqu茅n Flea Market, areas will be set up for the exhibition and marketing of artisanal and agro-industrial products made by peasant communities that have transformed territories marked by conflict into productive and lively regions.
The activity will take place on June 6, 7 and 8 at the aforementioned shopping centers, in Bogot谩 and Soacha.
Visitors will be able to obtain products such as coffee, chocolate, artisanal chocolate, artisanal wines, sacha inchi oil, Amazonian chili, flavored milk caramel, canned food, jams, mango ceviche, fruit pulps, ranch wines and artisanal creams, all from regions where humanitarian demining has led to the recovery of land use and generate new opportunities for rural development.
Through this activity, demining soldiers not only fulfill their mission of freeing Colombia of the threat of anti-personnel mines, but in the same way contribute to a sustainable economy.
Manos que Desminan, Manos que Apoyan represents a bridge between the countryside and the city, the result of the joint work conducted by the mine clearance specialists of Colombian National Army and the communities, promoting well-being, security and progress.
