After receiving the zones free of suspicion of anti-personnel mines in the municipalities of Vistahermosa and San Luis Cubarral, Meta, 15 Cacao and coffee producing families have been benighted with humanitarian demining.
In 2023, soldiers of the Humanitarian Demining Engineer Battalion No. 4 decontaminated the municipality of San Luis Cubarral, now the increase in agricultural plantations and livestock activities stands out, which strengthens the economy of the Ariari region.
First sergeant Aníbal Terraza Castro, demining leader, and together with the soldier Silvio Adalberto Piarpuzan Cando, knowing the need for eleven Cacao women to extend the commercialization of the fruit in different presentations, decided to support this venture.
“In this department of Meta there are two companies: Mujari (Women of the Ariari) and Chokomet, (Chocolates of the Meta department). These two productive projects directly benefit more than 15 families and indirectly more than 500 families in the municipalities of Cubarral and Vistahermosa. The two companies produce coffee and chocolate in different presentations. It is gratifying for me to see the results obtained of the operation we carried out on behalf of the communities that one day stopped living or doing their daily lives for fear of explosive devices and that currently have their own projects that contribute to the economic development of each of these families,” the non-commissioned officer emphasized.
Chokomet, which is produced in Vistahermosa, and Mujari, in San Luis, have the guarantee of Colombian National Army, of productive project companies free of suspicion of mines. It is expected that the export of these products will be suported not only in the department of Meta, but in the same way throughout the Colombian territory.
It is noteworthy that these two mine clearance specialists will be recognized at the Night of Honor of Colombian National Army, for their vocation of service to the homeland, contributing to the construction of the country.
