Bogotá. Training in the fight against drugs, against organized crime and even to prevention and management of disasters through canines, today was agreed by the Minister of National Defense, Luis Carlos Villegas, and the Minister of Public Security of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Mata, during their meeting in Bogotá.
Villegas pointed out that to date, nearly 2,300 Costa Rican public servants have been trained in security matters on various topics, ranging from the administration of police resources to the fight against drug trafficking, intelligence and assistance in natural disasters, among others.
"We have agreed to give life to a new initiative in terms of instructors in police and canine schools, something that Colombia has specialized in doing and is in a state of the art worldwide; we are going to deepen this cooperation," said the Colombian Minister.
He in the same way said that the two nations are interested in strengthening bilateral relations on issues related to cooperation in security and defense, particularly in the Pacific against organized and transnational crime. "It has been a very successful visit and we have exchanged information and trace a work route for the coming years."
