In a coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Navy and the National Police, the terrorist acts of the Nicolás Antonio Urango Reyes Substructure of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo were neutralized after the arrest of alias Ayapel or Niño Mercado, a fifth-level ringleader who would be generating fear and apparently criminal acts in the department of Bolívar.
The surgical operation that combined air and ground means, took place in the village Buenavista, rural area of the municipality of El Carmen de Bolívar, where units of the Caribbean Naval Force in coordination with the National Police, reported the arrest warrant, issued by the Attorney General of the Nation against this individual.
This arrest becomes a strategic blow to organized crime, because this individual would be the alleged Logistical coordinator of the Nicolás Antonio Urango Reyes substructure, which would be directing and coordinating illicit activities, mainly aimed at raising the illegal control of the mobility routes used for logistical supply and the supply of resources within the coordinating substructure, mainly from drug trafficking and extortion.
His actions would apparently be focused on preserving the criminal dynamics and sustainability of the organization's criminal resources, ensuring the constant availability of necessary precursors for its illicit activities.
Allegedly, he would be supporting the armed component of the substructure, serving as a liaison for the movement of war elements and men in arms, using the villages of Bajo Grande, Buenavista, San Carlos and Raízal as his main area of criminal interference in the Los Montes de María Subregion.
In coordination with units of the Police of the Department of Bolivar, the arrested man was taken to the urban area of the municipality of Carmen de Bolivar to continue his judicial process.
