Within the framework of military operations, the troops of the Second Division of Colombian National Army are constantly carrying out a powerful operation in the northeast of the country, specifically in the department of Santander, department of Norte de Santander, in six municipalities of the south of Cesar, as well as in the municipality of Yondo, department of Antioquia.
Among the results of the military operation, the strength of the troops of the Fifth Brigade reported significantly hit the GAO Clan del Golfo cartel. Among these actions, there are the elimination of alias Pájaro, the ringleader of this criminal cartel.
With regard to the fight against illicit activities, the finding and confiscation of more than 100 laboratories for the production of coca paste base and cocaine hydrochloride is noteworthy. In the same way, about eight tons of cocaine, an additional 369 kilograms of this substance, more than 117 kilograms of marijuana and approximately 10,000 gallons of liquid supplies used in the production of narcotics were seized, significantly hitting the finances of these criminal groups, whose main source is drug trafficking.
In the same way, as part of the protection of the lives of the inhabitants of the Catatumbo region, it was possible to destroy clandestine workshops for the manufacture of explosives of the GAO-ELN in the municipality of Tibú, department of Norte de Santander, where more than 562 explosive devices, including anti-personnel mines, grenades and means of launching, were disabled.
In the same way, the arrest of 416 individuals of organized common crime groups and 85 members of organized armed groups, the voluntary surrender of four members of the GAO-ELN and the surrender to justice of 11 members of these structures have been reported. In these operations it was in the same way possible to recover four minors who had been forcibly recruited. All these actions are carried out in strict compliance with International Humanitarian Law and respect for Human Rights.
In the same way, it was possible to confiscate 88 long and short weapons, as well as more than 2,400 ammunition of different calibers, weakening the armed capacity of these illegal structures.
