In the year 2025, more than 160 tons of cocaine hydrochloride have been found in the Colombian Caribbean, damaging more than 7.6 billion dollars to the drug trafficking groups that commit crimes in the region.
In the framework of the permanent operation against drug trafficking, the Colombian Navy, through its Coast Guard Units, reported two important results of the military operation against illicit activities at sea.
In the first operation, carried out north of Bocas de Ceniza, in Barranquilla, Department of the Atlantico, units of the Coast Guard Station of Barranquilla, detected and intercepted a GoFast type boat, which was traveling suspiciously and at high speed. Inside, 1,675 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops, as well as four elderly individuals, three Colombians and a Jamaican, who were arrested during the interception procedure.
In parallel, in Puerto Bolívar, in the Department of La Guajira, in a high-board inspection on a foreign flag boat, which had as its next port a city in Spain, crew members of the Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta found a 20 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, which were hidden in one of the compartments of the ship. No arrests were made during this operation.
With the support of the Technical Investigation Staff - CTI- of the Attorney General's Office, it was possible to identify in both cases, the type of illegal substance and its amount, 1,695 kilograms. The finding of these illegal elements represents a damage of more than 81 million dollars to the finances of drug trafficking organizations and prevented the distribution of about 4.2 million doses of narcotics on the streets of the world.
The material found, the immobilized boat and the four people arrested were taken and put into custody of the authorities.
