Meta. In compliance with the main objective of safeguarding the life of the civilian population, the Rapid Deployment Force N° 1, ground component of the Joint Task Force Omega, in development of military operations has found and destroyed 195 anti-personnel mines and 86 explosive devices, which threatened the tranquility of the civilian population in this area of the south eastern region of Colombia.
The Rapid Deployment Force N°1 with its three Battalions of Rapid Deployment and a Battalion of Direct operation and Recognition, are deployed in the municipalities of La Uribe, Vista Hermosa, Mesetas and La Macarena, in the department of Meta, found and neutralized these explosive devices so far this year.
This unit keeps its work together with the Groups of Explosives and Demolitions, men trained and specialized to neutralize explosive devices and antipersonnel mines, always under established protocols, safeguarding the people who inhabit and pass through these areas.
Apparently these devices would have been planted by the residual Organized Armed Groups in the region to hit the civilian population or the troops that operate in these rural areas.
