More than 30 illegal laboratories for the production of narcotics dismantled

Desmantelados más de 30 laboratorios ilegales para la producción de estupefacientes

So far this year, 333 laboratories used for the production of illicit substances have been found and destroyed in the South Pacific.

The Colombian Navy, within the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations, against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, in the department of Nariño, during the the last month dismantled 37 illegal laboratories used for the production of coca paste base.

The operations were carried out by troops of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.4, in the municipalities of El Charco, Francisco Pizarro, Mosquera, Olaya Herrera, San Andrés de Tumaco and Santa Bárbara de Iscuandé, in the department of Nariño, where they found and destroyed these improvised rudimentary constructions, finding inside, 14,095 gallons of liquid supplies and 1,482 kilograms of solid supplies. During the procedures, seven boats used to transport these illicit substances were in the same way found.

According to information from Naval Intelligence, it is presumed that these constructions would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, Alfonso Cano, Structures Iván Ríos and Jonier Toro Arenas, who use drug trafficking as the main source of financing for their criminal operations against the Military Forces and the communities of the South Pacific of the department of Nariño.

Through these results, these armed groups specialized in drug trafficking were hit by more than 280 thousand dollars.
