After a maritime interception operation that lasted more than an hour, units of the Colombian Navy found more than 900 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, transported aboard a ship manned by three Colombians, in waters adjacent to the department of Valle del Cauca.
The procedure was carried out, given that a ship of the Naval Institution detected through its radars, a GoFast-type ship traveling in a suspicious manner. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit -URR - of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station was sent to the site, to carry out the corresponding review.
The three individuals on board the suspicious boat, noticing the activity of the members of the Military Forces, conducted evasive maneuvers, leaving several sacks of different shapes and sizes at sea. In a quick reaction by the Colombian Sailors and with the support of an aircraft of the Naval Institution, it was possible to recover the material, 51 sacks, which, by their characteristics, would resemble illicit substances. However, due to the difficult weather conditions in the area, which caused cracks in the structure of the boat, it sank.
The arrested personnel and the material were taken to the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station, where personnel of the Criminal Investigation Section - SIJÍN-, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, determining that the packages contained 990 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. The individuals and the illegal merchandise were put into custody of the authorities in order to carry out the corresponding legal procedures.
Through this finding, more than 47 million dollars stopped entering the finances of drug trafficking structures and the marketing of more than two million doses of narcotics on the streets of the world was prevented.
