More than 700 animals benefited in free of charge veterinary care activities

Más de 700 animales beneficiados en jornadas gratuitas de atención veterinaria

For the benefit of the people on the island of San Andrés, their pets and those who are homeless, the Colombian Navy supported a series of veterinary activities led by the Animal Heart Islands Foundation, where 717 sterilizations and 181 primary care consultations were carried out on dogs and felines from this region of the country.

For four days, the companion animals received assistance in deworming, parasite control, and disease treatment and wound healing. In the same way, the hundreds of animals assisted received free food and medicines, including antibiotics, anti-tick, anti-inflammatory, anti-flea, control for mange and multivitamins.

This is the seventh activity that the Military Forces have supported, thanks to the work of specialized veterinary doctors, who traveled of the interior of the country to the San Andres island to carry out the procedures.

This activity, which contributed to animal wellbeing, was carried out thanks to the coordinated work conducted by the foundations Animal Heart Islands, Doggy in Home, Gora, Huellas, Rescatemos Juntos, Second Chances, Hogar de paso de Pauma, Hospital Animal del Valle, La Voz de Goyo and Spikes Veterinary, with the support of the Colombian Navy, Colombian National Army and the Colombian Aerospace Force.
