In San Andrés Island was carried out an Activity of Medical and Humanitarian Assistance, through the coordination of the Colombian Aerospace Force, Colombian National Army and the National Navy, in coordination with the Foundation Sonrisas Descomplicadas, Ambulant Doctor and the Ministry of Health; with the support of the Ombudsman's Office, the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute, ICBF, Coaspharma, IPS Omalina and the Animal Heart Foundation, with the purpose of providing comprehensive health care and humanitarian support to the community, facilitating the strengthening of institutional activity in the archipelago.
The activity, which lasted 7 days, was carried out in different sectors of the island, including the Seventh-day Adventist Church, the Maria Auxiliadora Schooner Bight CDI, the Cove Casa Lúdica, the Nueva Guinea and Natania V etapa neighborhoods, Pepper Hill and sectors such as Antonia Santos, Brooks Hills, Little Dolphin CDI and Carmelo, benefiting 806 people and 83 pets, for 889 comprehensive care consultations including people and animals.
During the activity, 770 treatments were provided in services such as general medicine, ophthalmology, gynecology, pediatrics, dentistry, vaccination and veterinary, as well as the distribution of medicines, eyeglass frames, liquid food supplement, donations and support in nutrition and hydration, contributing to the prevention of diseases, health guidance and improvement of the living conditions of the inhabitants.
Through this type of initiatives, the Colombian Aerospace Force, through the Caribbean Air Group and the other participating institutions, reaffirms its commitment to social development, the well-being of communities and the strengthening of institutional activity, facilitating spaces for integration and permanent accompaniment in the archipelago.
