In the framework of different maritime control operations in the South Pacific, units of the Colombian Navy found 595 kilograms of drugs.

A Coast Guard unit guided by naval intelligence information located 29 sacks tied to a buoy, which were floating in the sea. The military personnel recovered the material, which was transported to the Special District of Buenaventura, where the Technical Research Corps checked the packages, and the result was positive for 592 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. No arrests were made in the area.

Subsequently, a Coast Guard unit conducted in the maritime area of the municipality of Tumaco - Nariño, the inspection of the vessel named El Bacocho, crewed by four men of Colombian nationality, finding inside two pressed hidden packages that could possibly be drugs. One of the men stated that the two packages were his property, for that reason he was taken to the municipality of Tumaco and given to the authorities, who determined that the packages contained three kilograms of coca paste base. The other men on board the vessel continued their navigation.

With these findings, approximately 20 million dollars were prevented from entering the finances of organizations specialized in drug trafficking and the distribution of about one and a half million doses on the streets of the world.
