More than three thousand packages of marijuana found in the Pacific region of the department of Cauca

Incautadas más de tres mil paquetes de marihuana en el Pacífico caucano

Within the framework of naval operations, units of the Colombian Navy intercepted two ships in the El Chontaduro sector, municipality of Timbiquí, department of Cauca, which were transporting about three thousand packages of marijuana.

The operation was initiated when units of the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 42 detected two boats traveling suspiciously on the Bocana River. During the investigation procedure, there were 56 sacks that contained 3,228 packages that, according to their characteristics, resembled illicit substances, as well as 54 plastic barrels that, due to their color and characteristics, would correspond to smuggled fuel, in addition to communications and navigation equipment.

The personnel and the elements found were taken to a safe port, where officials of the Technical Research Corps- CTI, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, determining that it was 1,591 kilograms of marijuana and 918 gallons of fuel of Ecuadorian origin, being put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution.

This finding represents a powerful blow against the finances of drug trafficking organizations, by preventing the entry of more than 15 million dollars into their criminal networks; more than 264 thousand doses of illicit substances will not be distributed.
