The Colombian Navy, in the course of a joint operation with the National Army, arrested a man who was traveling aboard a rudimentary canoe-type boat on the Sencella River, who had in his possession 3,370 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.

The man noticing the work of the River Units of the River Navy Battalion No. 33 of the Colombian Navy, proceeded to leave the material in the river on the sector of Bocas del Río Sencella in the municipality of Puerto Leguízamo, Putumayo, with the purpose of preventing the war material from being found by the authorities. Immediately, the troops arrested the individual, while they proceeded to extract the ammunition due to the low level of the river.

Through the information provided by Colombian Navy Intelligence, it was possible to establish that the individual apparently belonged to the support networks of the Residual Organized Armed Group Carolina Ramírez Structure that commits crimes in the region, however, the authorities are still determining the origin of the material.

The war material found by the authorities, would destabilize at least two commissions of this criminal structure, which is currently engaged In armed confrontations with Structure 48 over the department of Putumayo for the control of drug trafficking routes to Brazil.

The arrested individual along with the material found were taken to Florencia, Caquetá, being handed over to the authorities to face charges for the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying weapons typified in article No. 366 of the Colombian Penal Code.
