More than a ton and a half of narcotics found in the Colombian Pacific

Incautada más de tonelada y media de estupefacientes en el Pacífico colombiano

As part of comprehensive maritime security and control operations in the Colombian Pacific, Colombian Navy units intercepted a ship in which four individuals were transporting narcotics bound for Central America.

The boat was detected by the surface units when it was sailing in the department of Valle del Cauca, immediately a Coast Guard boat made the interception and during the inspection process the military personnel found 59 pressed sacks inside the boat.

The illegal merchandise, the individuals and the boat were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura, where officials of the Attorney General's Office conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test – PIPH, to the hidden pressed packages, leaving positive for 1,684 kilograms of marijuana.

The three individuals were put into custody of the authorities to be prosecuted for the crimes of trafficking, manufacturing and carrying narcotics.

With this finding, about 11 million dollars were prevented from entering the financial structures of drug trafficking organizations and approximately 280 thousand doses were prevented from being distributed on the streets of the world.

The Colombian Navy reiterates its commitment to the fight against drug trafficking, denying the illegal use of the sea by the different armed groups and illegal organizations that intend to strike the tranquility of the inhabitants of the Pacific.
