During the proceedings, six Colombians were arrested, allegedly linked to illicit activities related to fuel trafficking.
The fuel found was of foreign origin.
Within the framework of maritime control and comprehensive security operations, units of the Colombian Navy intercepted two ships that were illegally transporting 8,150 gallons of smuggled fuel in waters adjacent to the department of Nariño.
The first operation was carried out 30 nautical miles from Tumaco, when a ship of the Pacific Naval Force detected through its radars, a ship that was sailing suspiciously. Immediately, a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR of the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, was sent to conduct the procedures.
When boarding the ship, which was crewed by three Colombians, the Colombian sailors found 87 barrels of fuel.
The second ship, with three crew members on board, was intercepted 26 nautical miles from Tumaco, by a Colombian Navy unit, finding inside 83 barrels of fuel, which did not have the documents proving the legality of the material.
The six individuals, the boats and the material found, were taken to the Coast Guard Station of Tumaco, where the Technical Investigation Corps - CTI, of the Prosecutor's Office, conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, determining that the first boat was carrying 4,000 gallons and the second, 4,150, of smuggled fuel.
