One of the individuals allegedly participated in the planning and preparation of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) used in attacks against the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 42, which occurred on June 10, 2025 in Timbiquí and on June 12, 2025 in Guapi.
The Colombian Navy in the framework of river operations, reports the voluntary surrender to justice of three alleged members of the Organized Armed Group – GAO-R, structure 30 Jhonier Toro Arenas, in the municipality of El Charco (Nariño).
The individuals, known by the aliases of Juan, Camilo and Samir, expressed their intention to abandon their weapons and avail themselves of legality, voluntarily distributing themselves along with war items, military accessories and a boat, as a result of the pressure of the sustained military operation that is constant in the department.
According to intelligence information, alias Samir would have participated in the planning and adaptation of improvised explosive devices, with which attacks were carried out against the Navy Infantry River Battalion No. 42 in Guapi on June 12, 2025 and in Timbiquí on June 10, 2025.
During the procedure, two rifles, a pistol, 715 5.56 mm caliber cartridges, 16 magazines and items of military accessories were taken. In the same way, a fiberglass canoe-type boat with an outboard motor was taken were put into custody of the authorities to carry out the respective judicial processes.
After securing the area, the individuals received first aid, food and security; in the same way, the established protocols were activated to begin the process of reintegration into civilian life, always respecting human rights.
