The investigation is based on victimizing acts committed by the organized armed groups outlaw against military personnel, within the framework of the armed confrontation in Colombia. In it, episodes are disclosed in which the soldiers of the institution suffered acts that violate international humanitarian law and violate human rights. The report was presented today before the JEP.

With the aim of providing elements that contribute to the operation of the Comprehensive System of Truth, Justice, Reparation and Non-Repetition, to clarify the situations committed in the framework of the armed confrontation, the National Army accompany the Corporation Mil Victimas to give to the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, JEP, the report The armed conflict from the skin of the Colombian soldier; with the hope that it will become a valuable element to achieve a stable and lasting peace.

El conflicto armado desde la piel del soldado colombiano is an investigation that explores facts associated with the genesis of the conflict and its impact on members of the National Army, as well as the damages to the environment and critical infrastructure of the State. In addition, we present figures that highlight Human Rights violations and breaches of International Humanitarian Law, widespread and systematically committed against the military, specifically related to serious crimes such as kidnappings, homicides, disappearances and situation against life, honor and dignity by the use of means and methods of illegal war.

With this research, it is expected to make a significant contribution to the SIVJRNR (Sistema Integral de Verdad, Justicia, Reparación y No Repetición in Spanish) to progress on the protection  of the rights of the military victims and their families, as well as to listening to the essential plurality of voices that should nourish the construction of the peace that we all desire, for which about 280 thousand men and women of the Institution have lost their lives, part of their bodies, and their dreams who have been hit by those operations.

Since before the creation of the Comprehensive System of Truth, Justice, Reparation and Non-Repetition, the Army has shown, its willingness and commitment to contribute to the building of the truth, through the contribution to a real-world environment of reconciliation among colombians and, above all, in the pursuit of comprehensive reparation for all victims of the armed conflict.
