During the operation, machinery valued at more than 600 million pesos was seized.
After intelligence work and within the framework of a coordinated operation, the Omega Task Force of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the National Police, reported the finding, intervention and neutralization of an illegal mining deposit in the village of Puerto Lucas, of the municipality of Vista Hermosa, department of Meta.
In the place, four people were arrested for carrying out the unauthorized removal of trawling elements (sand and gravel), causing a significant alteration in the water tributaries of the sector, as well as a direct damage to the environmental and ecological stability of the area.
Those arrested were put into custody of the authorities for their respective prosecution, in accordance with current regulations.
In the same way, three dump trucks, an excavator and a crane equipped for loading heavy machinery were found by troops, elements that cost more than 600 million pesos, which were being used for this illicit activity.
With this operation, a greater environmental loss was prevented, associated with soil erosion, pollution by sediments and metals, and the degradation of environmental reserve areas, factors that put biodiversity, ecosystems and the natural balance of the territory at risk.
