The timely information and the quick reaction of the troops of the 26th Cacique Pigoanza Infantry Battalion and the Huila Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), with the support of the Citizen Participation Network, led to the recovery of a minor who was being used by a gang for the execution of criminal activities, in this case, to participate in the kidnapping of a coffee farmer in a rural area of the municipality of El Pital.
The young man, 17 years old, was recovered at the same time that, due to pressure of the troops, the criminals aborted their criminal plans. At the time of his finding, the minor was wearing clothes for the exclusive use of the Military Forces.
The troops, prioritizing the protection of his good physical condition, immediately transferred him to a health care center to verify his health status and, subsequently, put him into custody of the Colombian Institute of Family Wellbeing (ICBF), in order to work for the restoration of his rights and the corresponding psychosocial accompaniment.
The Ninth Brigade of Colombian National Army emphatically rejects the illegal use of minors by criminal structures, a crime that seriously violates the dignity, development and life project of children and adolescents in the country. The troops will continue to carry out sustained operations to prevent and counter this serious violation of human rights, as well as to neutralize the attempts of criminal groups to disturb the tranquility of Huila families.
