The prompt operation of the troops of the Army and National Police led to the rescue of a minor who had been kidnapped hours earlier in San Martin, Meta.
Thanks to the pressure of the troops of the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) of Meta and the Engineer Battalion No. 7 of the National Army, and the Gaula Police, through the Padlock Plan, a minor was rescued after armed individuals arrived at the farm where he was with his father, in rural area of La Matufa, in the municipality of San Martin.
They were removed of the farm, the father and the minor were taken to the municipality where the armed individuals released the father of the minor so he could collect USD$17.000 for the release of the son.
Subsequently, thanks to the timely denunciation of the community, and the effective reaction of the Army and the Police, the Padlock Plan was coordinated, which resulted in the finding of the minor.
Once the information was known, all military and police operations were activated, so the vehicle where the minor was transported was found. The minor escaped from a house in the Pedro Daza neighborhood, municipality of San Martín, where they had held him. The Army and the Police personnel, who were close to the area, protected him.
The minor, once rescued, was put into custody of the judicial authority to expand the investigation of his captors.
The Governor of Meta, Juan Guillermo Zuluaga, thanked the timely denunciation of the citizens and the immediate reaction of the troops, who in a coordinated way worked to achieve the liberation.
Military operations continue in the area to find those responsible for this kidnapping and to take appropriate actions to prevent these events from occurring again.
