In a quick military operation, the troops neutralized a terrorist threat that members of the residual Carlos Patiño organized armed group, a structure at the service of alias Ivan Mordisco, were planning to carry out, which would have caused serious damage within an area of more than 300 meters, especially in front of the zone where the village hospital is being built.
Within the framework of Operation Perseo, troops of the Rapid Deployment Battalion n° 11, of the Rapid Deployment Force n° 4, reported thwarted a terrorist action in the village of El Plateado, municipality of Argelia, department of Cauca, after finding a motorcycle loaded with explosives in the middle of the urban area.
This device had been planted by members of the residual organized armed group Carlos Patiño structure, with the intention of being activated at a sensitive point of these village, right in front of the place where the construction of the local hospital is progressing.
This result was possible thanks to the follow-up of a previous alert, to the information provided by the community, as well as to the coordinated work with the National Police, resources that complement the aerial reconnaissance support, which managed to anticipate a threat that would put the inhabitants and the Military Forces at serious risk.
A motorcycle equipped with explosives that could cause damage in more than 300 meters around was found; with this one, there are already two motorcycles found in the last twenty days. after the finding, the troops immediately adopted the necessary security measures to protect the people and secure the area while the specialized procedure was being carried out.
Subsequently, troops coordinated with the Judicial Police and with the anti-explosive group of the National Police to carry out the technical intervention of the device, in accordance with the protocols established for this type of threats.
Through this action, Colombian National Army prevented an attack that sought to sow terror in an urban area of Cauca and reaffirms its commitment to the protection of life, the security of communities and the elimination of the terrorist resources of the organized armed groups that commit crimes in the southwest of the country.
