With a load of approximately 20 kilograms of pentolite, alleged members of the Carlos Patiño structure, in the service of alias Ivan Mordisco, were planning to carry out a terrorist action at a frequent transit point of peasants, women and children at the entrance of the village.
Within the framework of military operations and thanks to intelligence information, troops of the Rapid Deployment Battalion n° 11, of the Rapid Deployment Force n° 4 of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the National Police, reported the finding of an explosive device in the urban area of the village of El Plateado, municipality of Argelia, department of Cauca, three blocks from the main park of this locality.
During the procedure, it was established that the device had been hidden in a bag containing 14 pentolite blocks, weighing approximately 20 kilograms, in addition to an alarm device with a motorcycle battery and two kilograms of steel pellets, elements that increased its destruction capacity.
Once the explosive found, the security protocols were immediately activated and the corresponding support was coordinated with the National Police. Subsequently, the Explosive Ordnance Detection and disposal Team of the National Police carried out the controlled elimination of the load, thus preventing a possible terrorist action in the urban area of the village.
According to military intelligence, behind these acts would be alleged members of the illegal armed group specialized in explosives, identified with the aliases of Chicharra, Fabián, Breiner, Chinga, Betancourt, Daza, Kevin, Bozo, Cocuyo and Tatiana, who would have the purpose of affecting the inhabitants, intimidating the communities and destabilizing security in the Micay Canyon.
This result represents a significant loss to the criminal intentions of the illegal armed groups that commit crimes in this region, by preventing an action that would have put at risk the life and integrity of the inhabitants, as well as the stability of the sector.
